Coleman D. Ross

Coleman Ross’ business career has spanned over 55 years. For 19 years, he served as an independent director for five insurance-related companies. For the first 34 years, he was in public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers (then Price Waterhouse) serving insurers, banks, and other financial services clients and was the national leader of the firm’s insurance practice. In between, he was chief financial officer for two New York Stock Exchange-listed insurance companies, one a life insurer and the other property-casualty insurer and reinsurer. As a life-long learner, he has achieved advanced education and professional designations of relevance to each phase of his business career. During his career, he has also belonged to and served professional organizations, including serving on the American Institute of CPAs’ senior technical accounting and financial reporting committee. In addition, he has been active with volunteer organizations, principally with Scouting America and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
While not currently serving on any boards, my 19 years as an independent director included serving as a director and audit committee chair for a New Orleans-based international life and health insurer (Pan-American Life Insurance Group), a Bermuda and New York-based financial guarantee insurer (Syncora Holdings), a London and Bermuda-based Lloyds syndicate manager and property insurer (Omega Insurance Holdings), and a Florida-based workers compensation data services company (NCCI Holdings), as well serving as an audit committee advisor to a Connecticut-based title insurer (CATIC Financial). I continue my service to Scouting America and UNC, although at a reduced level. Since my final retirement in 2003, I have completed two graduate degree programs (Master of Arts in economics and Master of Science in Financial Services) and several professional designations.
My goal is to remain active, challenged, and stimulated. Today, that involves bringing my financial expertise to boards of directors as well as consulting with financial services organizations.
